BY GIVING HOMES TO BIRDS (CHIRAIA)

Birds add life, sound and color to our lives and are vital to ecosystem. Birds provide insect and rodent control, plant pollination, and seed dispersal which result in tangible benefits to people and maintain habitats. A recent report outlined that bird species have declined by nearly 30% in the last 50 years. This is mainly because of habitat loss through urbanisation and repurposing land for farming.

BY HELPING COW SHELTERS (GAIA MAIA)

Sheltering of old, unproductive and abandoned cows in traditional cow shelters (gaushalas) is an ancient practice in India. Cows venerated as mother goddesses, their slaughter is illegal in India. Abandoning of cows in streets is contentious causing a public health risks to humans and animals. Crop-raiding by abandoned cows has led to human–animal conflict, in villages.
